Swift Transportation is a national trucking company that runs freight across the country and hires new CDL-A holders through a paid training program. This role is an over the road trainee job based out of Atlanta, GA, where you ride and drive with an experienced mentor while you build real driving time. No past driving experience is needed, only a Class A CDL. Drivers are home about once a month, and after finishing training they move onto a trip, hourly, or daily pay plan and can upgrade to driving solo.
Responsibilities
- Run over the road freight with an experienced driver mentor during paid training
- Drive safely and follow DOT rules while building on the road experience
- Back and park a tractor trailer with accuracy
- Work some holidays
- Work some weekends
- Stay out on the road with home time about once a month
- Finish the training program and move into a solo driving role
Qualifications
- Valid Class A commercial driver license
- At least 21 years old
- No previous driving experience required
- Strong backing skills
- No DUI in the last 10 years for CDL-A holders, and none in the last 5 years for drivers without a CDL-A
- No more than 1 on road or DOT preventable loss in the last 2 years
- No more than 3 preventable accidents in the last 2 years, and no major preventable accidents in the last 5 years
- No serious traffic violations in the past year
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years
- Able to pass a DOT physical and a drug test
- No drug related conviction in the last 5 years
- No illegal drug use and no positive or refused tests in the past 10 years while holding a CDL-A or CLP
- Able to show proof of the legal right to work in the United States
- Able to read, write, and speak English
