Covenant Transport is a trucking company based in Chattanooga, Tennessee that hires drivers who hold a Class A license but have not driven for a carrier yet. In this over the road job, you start by running with a trainer and getting paid a set weekly amount while you learn. After training, you move to mileage pay that steps up at 90 days and again at six months. Drivers run as part of a two person team and average about 5,000 to 6,000 miles a week, and orientation is held every Monday and Wednesday, with an online option that lets you start any day.
Responsibilities
- Ride and drive with an experienced trainer during the training period and learn how the job is done on the road.
- Run over the road freight as part of a two person driving team.
- Cover about 5,000 to 6,000 miles a week as a team.
- Keep your truck and paperwork in shape so DOT inspections come back clean.
- Follow DOT safety rules and company policies while on duty.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A commercial driver license.
- No driving experience required.
- At least 21 years old.
- Meet all DOT requirements and driver qualification standards.
- No more than one serious traffic violation in the past year.
- No critical accidents in the past year.
- No DUI in the past four years.
- Able to read, write, and speak English.
- Willing to drive as part of a team.
