Responsibilities
- Run assigned routes out of the distribution center and keep deliveries on time
- Make about 3 to 5 stops per day, not counting the first and last stop
- Handle live load and unload at roughly half of the customer stops
- Drive an average of about 1,550 miles each week
- Work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays when the route calls for it
- Take occasional Saturday loads
- Work with store staff and customers during deliveries
- Manage your own time and hours to meet delivery windows
Qualifications
- Live within 80 miles of Hickory, NC
- Have your own transportation to and from the distribution center, since trucks cannot be taken home
- Good customer service skills and patience
- Willing to start early in the morning and drive through the day
- Able to meet the physical demands of several stops each day
- Able to plan your day so loads arrive on time
- Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the route schedule
- For PDOP students: bring your supplies to orientation and stay out on the road until you upgrade
Benefits
- Mileage pay based on verified experience: $0.63 per mile under 1 year, $0.64 at 1 year, $0.65 at 2 years, $0.66 at 4 or more years
- Stop pay of $15 per stop, not counting the first and last stop
- Drivers who average 1,550 miles and 3 or more loads a week usually earn $1,150 to $1,300 a week, with top earners around $1,500 a week
- Yearly pay of $60,000 or more, with top earners above $75,000
- PDOP students earn $650 a week during training
- Truck driving school reimbursement up to $7,000
- Home time at least once a week, with 34-hour resets that usually start Saturday evening and end Monday morning
- Paid vacation: 1 week after 1 year, 2 weeks after 3 years, 3 weeks after 7 years, 4 weeks after 10 years
